Debunking the Myths About CPVC

However, there are some misconceptions about CPVC related to its safety and durability. One such myth is that CPVC is not safe because it can leach chemicals into drinking water.

FlowGuard® CPVC is One of the Safest Piping Materials Available

CPVC is actually one of the safest piping materials on the market, as proven by approval from international public health organizations.

FlowGuard CPVC is also free of the following materials, which can be harmful when they exist in pipes and fittings:

  • Plasticizers
  • Flame retardants
  • Bio-stabilizers
  • Anti-static agents

Additionally, FlowGuard CPVC has the NSF-61 Annex G certification. This certification applies to any pipe, pipe or plumbing fitting, or fixture intended to dispense water for human consumption. Products that hold this certification have met the 0.25% weighted average lead content as well as all health effects and leachate requirements.

PPR (green pipe) is another popular residential plumbing material option, but does not carry this distinction.
